Yep.  It’s gotten me.  I’m completely bitten smitten.

This is probably the most addictive series I’ve ever read!  Cheesy, not much substance, and I can’t stand most of the characters, but for SOME reason, I can’t stop reading!

I swear, this is the only and last post I will ever do on Twilight, since I feel more than slightly immature for 1) reading the books, 2) admitting to reading them, and 3) genuinely liking them!

ps. I’m on Eclipse now, if anyone’s interested!  I think the first book was the best, the rest are still good, but the characters are starting to get rotten for me now.

Perennial Loser

21 06 2009

Loser Table

One that fails to win.  Time and time again.  Just as one can look forward to a perennial bloom of tulips in their garden each spring, I can look forward to perennial loserdom each spring as well.  And any other time of the year for that matter.  But Spring is special.  The rest of the year sucks anyway.

That’s me.  When it rains, it pours, then someone shits on my head.  Again and again.

So, I just got over this HUGE event, and I’m all ready for summer and planning all my lame summer vacations.  Including well-deserved time off.  And I get news.

My boss has taken hiatus for the entire summer.  SHHHEEEEESSSSSHHH.  And do you know who the ONLY person is that can cover?  Oh, and as of MONDAY?  Three guesses, first two don’t count!

Bye plans.  Nice kinda knowing you.

Am I ever going to get my “Summer of Yoork?”

I’m neck deep in work-doody now!

That’s me. The head-less chicken woman.

Ach.  I’m planning a charity golf tournament that is set to go on tomorrow.  I’ve been planning this tournament for about 6 months, and it’s an annual event, so really, years!  LOL.

Issues stressing me out right now:

– Last minute joiners! (the day-before, really people?  Did you wait until you had nothing better do before you decided this event would be better than nothing?)

– People who haven’t paid-up.  This is usual, but still unprofessional and irritating.

– Still have to package all the prizes together!  Night-before.  Hate that!  Always happens!

– Last minute prize donations!  Which are great, only, maybe it’d be greater last week before I made up all the prize packages!

Needless to say, I’ll be running around like a chicken-with-my-head cut off today.  I’m a pretty “zen” person, so this for me translates to me sitting and staring at a wall every so often silently panicking that I didn’t forget anything and trying to send bad vibes to anyone who’s going to try to break my zen.

Do you ever do something because you think it’s a great idea and it’ll be tonnes of fun, and dismiss the amount of work/stress involved, then you get to final planning stages and wonder why on earth you do this to yourself??? (time and time again?)

Oh, hopefully it goes very smooth, and the charities receive a good donation.  ||X/  \X|| *crosses fingers, hope and a prayer!*

Revolutionary Road

16 06 2009

I’m currently reading Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates.

Yes, I picked this book up to read BEFORE I watched the movie.  Kill me!  lol.  Well, I wasn’t expecting much to be honest.  I was expecting a rather dry, out-dated read on American life in a time before I was born.  Well, it is so much more than that.  It is out-dated (but shockingly current), and it is about American life before I was born.  But it is FAR from dry.  Now I feel that I will be disappointed when watching the movie, but I hope not!

Some of my favorite bits:

Frank reflecting on his life,

“Nowhere in these plans had he forseen the weight and shock of reality; nothing had warned him that he might be overwhelmed by the swaying, shining vision of a girl he hadn’t seen in years, a girl whose every glance and gesture could make his throat fill up with longing (“Wouldn’t you like to be loved by me?”), and that then before his very eyes, she would dissolve and change into the graceless, suffering creature whose existence he tried every day of his life to deny but whom he knew as well and as painfully as he knew himself, a gaunt constricted woman whose red eyes flashed reproach, whose false smile in curtain call was as homely as his own sore feet, his own damp climbing underwear and his own sour smell.”

I read this and I couldn’t help but wonder if this is how my man feels about me now…

April Wheeler: “So now I’m crazy because I don’t love you, right?  Is that the point?

Frank Wheeler: “No! Wrong!  You’re not crazy, and you do love me.  That’s the point, April.”

April Wheeler: “But I don’t.  I hate you.  You were just some boy who made me laugh at a party once, and now I loathe the sight of you.  In fact, if you come any closer, if you touch me or anything, I think I’ll scream!”

I think couples have always had the problems they to today, divorce is just more “available” now.

John Givings: “Hopeless emptiness.  Now you’ve said it.  Plenty of people are onto the emptiness, but it takes real guts to see the hopelessness.”

John Givings: “You want to play house you got to have a job.  You want to play nice house, very sweet house, you got to have a job you don’t like.”

Don’t we all feel like this?

April Wheeler: It takes backbone to lead the life you want, Frank.

I found this criticism very inspiring actually, is that strange?

On the main character, Frank Wheeler, reminiscing on his boyhood ideas to run away and start a new life,

“In Europe, of course.  The only place worth living in.”

This one made me think the most.  Do you think that’s true?  I find it strange for an American to say something like that, being so patriotic and all.  Is Frank Wheeler right?  Is Europe the only place worth living in in this world?

Holiday, Celebrate

7 05 2009

“Holiday, celebrate

If we took a holiday
Took some time to celebrate
Just one day out of life
It would be, it would be so nice”

It would be so nice!

I’m going on holiday to Montreal, PQ y’all!  So I won’t be posting for a good long week….

I’ll def post on some Montreal styles that I happen to see.  Trendy-trendy.  There will be tonnes of shops I’d like to visit too.  I will def have to visit Les Ailes, since there was one when I was living in Ottawa, but it shut down before I really had a chance to get out to that mall to see it!  I also want to check out unique specialty shops like Arthur Quentin, (39 rue St-Denis), which is a gourmet chef shop, maybe I can pick something up for my brother who is just starting out his international chef career?  Of course, a foodie myself, I’ll have to check out Fromagerie Hamel, and few boulangeries etc.  *drool for cheese*  And of course, I’ll have a Smoke Meat Sandwich at the famous Shwartz’s!  I’m not even much of a “meatie”, but they’re so darn juicy!

Au revoir et a bientot!!!

MET Costume Gala 2009 Favorites

5 05 2009

So it looks like there was a good turnout of stars at the MET Costume Gala 2009 yesterday evening, despite so many designers, thus models turning cheek on the event.  I’m not going to get into the politics of all of that, for one, I don’t know enough and two, I simply don’t care.  I just love the clothes!

So here are some of my faves of the night:

Justin Timberlake in William Rast, Jessica Biel in Versace Atelier

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel.  Justin looks smashing, and that dress on Jessica is just amazing in Versace Atelier.  One of the best of the night.  Chris De Burgh’s “Lady In Red” went off in my head.  However, it could have been worn with much LESS bronzer!!!

Bar Refaeli in Marchesa

Bar Refaeli in a short silver Marchesa dress.  I really love the sparkle and shine of this dress!

Leighton Meester in Louis Vuitton

Leighton Meester in Louis Vuitton.  She took a risk, and has show up on a few worst-dressed lists as a result, but I just loved it!  I could see how it could go wrong, but I just thought it was right.  I loved the cutesy hair also.  It has a very harajuku feel.  It’s a costume ball afterall!

Rachel Weisz in Vera Wang

Rachel Weisz in Vera Wang. I absoluately love this dress.  I absolutely HATE that dark purple lipstick!  She looks like a corpse.  I didn’t think I could see Rachel Weisz look terrible.  Guess I was wrong.

Rihanna in Dolce & Gabbana

Rihanna in Dolce & Gabbana tux. Stunning!  Always a trendsetter!

Oh, to see and be seen!

15 04 2009

I don’t like it.

Actor Seth Green did the above to his hair.  I don’t really like it.  Below, was him before.

Yeah, he wasn’t particularly hot “before” either!!! LOL.  I still think of him as Dr. Evil’s son.

I can almost see the hawk working for him….but why purple???  He can’t ‘rock the hawk’ like my boy Sunny!
